On December 18th, A holiday party was held for the children and grand-children of the Widerman Malek staff at the firm’s Melbourne, FL office. The children and families had a great time making ornaments, holiday decorations, and sugar cookies to eat. Continuing the festivities, a reading of A Visit from St. Nicholas, also known as The Night Before Christmas, was excellently performed by Ariana Tellone. The children also each received a bag of gifts containing various goodies. After winding down, it was fun to simply relax, converse, and watch the kids play. Toys were also collected to donate to families in need.

On August 31, 2016, two members of the Widerman Malek team, Mark Warzecha (partner) and Daniel Davidson, on behalf of the firm’s not-for-profit, No Bad Days Foundation, visited Ability Plus Therapy to present Liam two therapy items that will hopefully bring some relief to him and his mom.

Liam, who is autistic and suffers from congenital pulmonary valve stenosis, tachycardia and cardiac arrhythmia, received a weighted compression vest and an air “wiggle” cushion. Although it does not seem like much, these two items can help make his daily life less of a struggle. The vest which is adorned with one of his favorite animals helps him feel secure and comfortable in his environment. Before the vest, Liam was unable to control himself and would run into walls and other objects, hurting himself and sometimes others. Similarly, the air cushion is used to avert him from kicking while he eats or interacts with others.

It was a sincere pleasure to meet Liam, and the No Bad Days Foundation is pleased it was able to continue to do what it set out to do. Here are some pictures of Liam in action with his new vest and cushion!

Widerman Malek, PL’s law firm was well represented at The International Drone Conference and Exposition (InterDrone) in Las Vegas, Nevada, September 7- 9th. Widerman Malek’s Unmanned Aerial Systems/Drone law group provided a table and information for attendees. The table was manned by Managing Partner, Attorney Mark Malek, Attorney Kelly Swartz and Attorney Ed Kinberg. Attorneys Swartz and Kinberg also spoke on Business Law for UAS/Drone Companies. The Exposition was attended by approximately 3500 companies and individuals from around the U.S. and 50 foreign countries hoping to get a jump start in this rapidly growing industry.

Mark Malek, Managing Partner of Widerman Malek, PL. attended a roundtable discussion with United States Senator Marco Rubio on Friday August 19, 2016 at Space Florida. The Senator was so well versed on the needs of the Space Coast and on how to enhance the Aerospace and Space industry in Florida. The Senator discussed energizing the American public about the space program, and expressed his thoughts that commercializing technology that is born out of the space program will help. A humorous side note from the Senator was that the Space Program is not just responsible for Tang!

The discussion with Senator Rubio then turned to education and different ways how we can interest youth about aerospace. Senator Rubio was ever enthusiastic about introductions to aerospace and STEM education at younger ages for our children. There were several other topics discussed at the roundtable, but one thing is for certain – Senator Rubio is dedicated to the aerospace and space industries, not just for the good of Florida, but for the good of the United States. We thank Senator Rubio for taking the time to meet with us this morning and look forward to working with him on this endeavor.
