Attorneys and Staff from Widerman Malek, PL not only took part in, but stole the show, at the 1st Annual Wacky Tacky Golf Tournament held at Duran Golf Club on May 16, 2015 to support The Bridges Foundation. The Bridges Foundation supports the many services provided by Bridges. Just some of the services offered by Bridges includes home care for seniors, transitional homes for veterans, employment services for adults with disabilities, and group homes for individuals that need various forms of assistance. Mark Malek, a United States Patent Attorney based in Melbourne, Florida, proudly serves on the Board of Directors for The Bridges Foundation and encourages everyone to learn more about Bridges. Clearly, the Widerman Malek attorneys won the outfit competition, but placed second in the actual golf competition. Widerman Malek Attorneys host Japanese Patent Attorneys From Shiga International

On Thursday April 23, 2015, the attorneys of Widerman Malek, PL, were honored to host Patent Attorneys Tatsuhiko Abe and Myeong-Cheol Woo of the Shiga International Patent Office at their Melbourne, Florida office. During the visit, Attorney Abe provided the United States Patent Attorneys and staff of Widerman Malek with updates to patent opposition proceedings in Japan. Lunch was enjoyed by the Shiga International Patent Attorneys and the Florida based United States Patent Attorneys of Widerman Malek afterward at The Firehouse Restaurant in historic downtown Melbourne, Florida.

Widerman Malek, PL is pleased to announce that Kelly G. Swartz of Ingenuity Law has joined the firm as a Patent Attorney. Swartz, a member of the Florida bar, graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in engineering and then graduated from Barry University School of Law.

Kelly practices in the areas of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyright, and trade secrets. She is a patent attorney registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She joins WM’s commitment by giving back to her community as a member of the Junior League of South Brevard and a Justice Teaching volunteer which makes her a perfect fit for the Widerman Malek team.

While working for GE Harris Railway Electronics she was an inventor of U.S. Patent 6,896,339. When Ms. Swartz is away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
