The event focused on assisting small businesses in understanding cybersecurity requirements when providing direct or indirect services or supplies to the Federal Government. The program discussed the requirements of Federal Acquisition Regulation, Subpart 52.204-21, Basic Safeguarding of Covered Contractor Information Systems and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) 252.204-7012 Safeguarding covered defense information and cyber incident reporting.  Under these regulations, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers are required to implement the cybersecurity standards set out in National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-171

DoD is increasing its enforcement of the regulation and will be making it an evaluation criterion for future procurements.
