Increasing Number of Child Deaths Through China Call for New Laws

General Law Abroad:

Times are changing, and this means throughout the world and not just within our country. China is seeing a lot of child deaths throughout the years and they’re calling for a change in this. Not only are these children in the guardianship of their family members, but apparently their guardians are not sure about their rights and responsibilities as parents or caregivers and making poor choices, leading to the child’s death. This is what the new reform is aiming to stop.

The Changes Being Made

One of the biggest concerns is that these guardians are unsure of their responsibilities. There have been numerous 3 and 4 year olds that are left unattended for quite some time within buildings and rooms, due to the parents or grandparents running out to grab something or to go to work. This is not the proper way to care for small children. One of the children fell from three stories high due to looking and leaning out of the window.

There are new laws that prevent these parents and other guardians from leaving their pre-school aged children home alone during the day without any supervision. This is because, these are the children that are more likely to become hurt in the process of not having any supervision whatsoever. These are the younger children that are left in the care of someone that just leaves the home for whatever purpose they may have at the time.

However, this is the only regulation that is currently in place and there are no other rules, laws or regulations in place that specifically state when and how parents should allow their children to be home alone. Additionally, these new laws are going to give parents more of an outline of what is expected of them when it comes to caring for their children. Even though it may seem silly, it seems as if many of the parents are unsure of what to do when it comes to being in one place, but having to care for a child in another.

This new law and other regulations will help to provide the standards that are needed for parents to care for their children within the country, even if it seems silly. It might also mean fewer deaths of these children that are left unattended for extended periods of time without someone there to tell them what they should and should not be doing.
