David Charitat is Of Counsel with the firm of Widerman Malek, PL, in Melbourne, Florida.  While his practice includes some of the firm’s main areas including commercial litigation, estate planning, land use, and construction law, David’s focus is on government acquisitions, federal employment and labor law, and real estate.

David is twice retired from the US Air Force, first from active duty in 2007, where he served as an Intelligence Officer and Judge Advocate, then as a Senior Civilian Attorney, where held various senior and executive-level legal positions culminating as the General Counsel for the Air Force Technical Applications Center at Patrick SFB, Florida.

David has over 25 years of experience in US Government contracts having been the primary legal advisor to several billion dollars’ worth of government acquisitions over the course of his career.  He has represented the US Air Force in numerous forums on acquisition-related issues.  He also has extensive expertise in federal labor and employment law, ethics and professional responsibility, environmental law and land use, international law and relations, and numerous other topics.  He has advised US Government decision makers, authored and instituted organizational policies and procedures, litigated and resolved legal problems at every level of the US Government.  He now brings that considerable experience and expertise to his clients.

David is also a licensed real estate broker.  He has served on the Board of several non-profit and charitable organizations.  When not practicing law, David spends time with his lovely wife of 33+ years Nancy, their two daughters, Leah and Celine, and their families.  He might also be found on the tennis court, on a bicycle or walking the many trails in the local area, catching the wind on his motorcycle, on the water in a kayak, or playing frisbee on a breezy beach.
