USCIS Provides Updated Response to COVID-19 Crisis

The U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that all offices will remain closed through May 3, 2020, or until further notice. Therefore, please note the following impacts:

  • All scheduled in-person appointments, hearings, and interviews during this time are automatically canceled.
  • USCIS will automatically reschedule all canceled appointments by mailing new appointment notices to applicants.
  • Rescheduling will most likely not begin at least until the USCIS offices reopen for business as normal.
  • For biometrics/fingerprint appointments, USCIS will attempt to use previously collected fingerprint records, if available, to proceed with case adjudication and avoid a delay for this reason. Applicants will receive a notice in the mail from USCIS if this occurs.
  • As a result, it appears that pending immigration cases that require interviews at local offices will most likely be delayed by a few months or more.
