Space Coast Women in Defense (SCWID) held their 4th Anniversary Celebration at Larsen Motorsports on Saturday night, January 28th. Over 130 people attended and had a great time meeting IHRA Jet Dragster World Champion Driver, Elaine Larsen and her husband Chris, as well as looking at the dragsters and racing equipment throughout their facility. Both Elaine and Chris spoke regarding their experiences in the racing community and in Melbourne. Providing entertainment at the event were the Brevard Brass, a group of local musicians dedicated to playing for non-profit organizations. There was also a silent auction, STEM Innovator Awards, great food, and great company. Mary Kinberg of Widerman Malek is on the SCWID board and a founding member of the association. Attorney Mason Williams is a member of SCWID and also helped with the planning of the event.

On December 18th, A holiday party was held for the children and grand-children of the Widerman Malek staff at the firm’s Melbourne, FL office. The children and families had a great time making ornaments, holiday decorations, and sugar cookies to eat. Continuing the festivities, a reading of A Visit from St. Nicholas, also known as The Night Before Christmas, was excellently performed by Ariana Tellone. The children also each received a bag of gifts containing various goodies. After winding down, it was fun to simply relax, converse, and watch the kids play. Toys were also collected to donate to families in need.

Everyone here at Widerman Malek, PL wore their awesome, yet ugly sweaters to work for our annual Ugly Christmas Sweater contest. We loved everyone’s spirit and creativity, but the Ugliest Christmas Sweater award went to Attorney Hostetler (pictured front center) for his biker tattooed sweater which was a fan favorite.

October 27th began with lots of food as the office celebrated its annual “Boss’s Day Breakfast.” The staff brought in delicious homemade casseroles, pastries, fruits, donuts, juices and many other palatable breakfast items to share with their team members. The Widerman Malek Boss’s Day Breakfast is always a great time to visit with friends and enjoy a great meal with fellow colleagues.

On September 29th, Widerman Malek, PL supported the Nana’s House Fundraising Banquet by sponsoring a table at the Crowne Plaza Melbourne Oceanfront Hotel. Friends and firm members had a wonderful time supporting Nana’s House along with board member Scott Dixon and his wife Gosia. Nana’s House is a group children’s home for neglected, abused, needy, or abandoned children, newborn to 11 years old.
